Q: 03/04 ford cobra engine used in ranger offroad prerunner?
I know its gonna be a bit of work to fit it and work the bugs out but i want to know what you think of it in a offroad ranger application… i think it would be a pretty neat set up with the t56 6spd and supercharger. Thanks!!!

A: I think that it would be awesome. I would love to have that car when it’s finished. It is probably gonna be wicked fast.

Q: Used Ford Mustang GT500 Cobra 2007, Thinking of buying, what should the Price be?
I tried to use Blue book and it said they could not get a price on one of them. Ford dealer wants $40,299. That still very close to the price for a new one is. It was like new really, but its way over price me and my dad and even the sales thought. What do you think the price should be?
10,000 on it

A: I would deffinately not pay more then $36,000. I can find a bunch from private sellers that have half the milage and they are asking between $35,000 and $38,000. If I were you, I would take a look at private sellers. Since you will be buying a car that has so few miles on it and you buy from an adult you know the car wont be abused and the factory warranty will still be present. Not only will you find a car for a lot less but on top of that you will save thousands because you wont have to pay sales tax. You are probally looking at saving at least $5,000 by going with a private seller.

Q: How much is a Car transmission used or rebuilt for a 2000 ford taurus?
My 23 yr old just needs it to run for 2 more years of school and is working while home from college. to help pay for this…He’s a demo guy for Titleist and Cobra golf equipment and has to travel 4 to 5 days a week in the Chicago land area. His car still runs but he thinks its going out. We spent 1500.00 last summer on new parts and service, now he needs tires and a transmission to get him through a hard working summer and college. Thanks for any answers..A MOM

A: used or rebuilt your looking at about 500-1000,,

Q: buying used Mustang Cobra, help?
I am buying a 1997 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra Coupe with the engine from a 04 Cobra. What problams should i look for when i inspect the car? are there any problams that are commen with this car? thancks for your help.

A: quite a few mustangs have swapped in the cobra (terminator) engine, because it is so very strong and likely one of the best engines ford has produced in terms of quality of internal components, and overall performance.

this can be an excellent purchase, and because the engines stand up to a lot of hard driving they are quite dependable.

as answerer Vipassan said have a pro shop ck it out…..
do a full ck including compression test.
basic questions:
-engine swap accompanied by swap of the t-56 6 sp transmission? and was the transmission upgraded to stronger spline??
-what clutch is the car running
-is it running stock supercharger, or has it been replaced and with what??
-what other installations have been done on this car to manage the power from the cobra engine??
-has the car had a custom tune of the engine (if so talk to that shop)

lastly MAKE SURE to see build identification to confirm it is a cobra engine! (lots of clones out there).

this can be a 1st rate car, if all cks out.

when you have time get on http://www.svtperformance.com/
its an owners forum for performance mustangs, register and then get onto the forum for 03/04 terminators (and look for “terminator talk”)
there is very extensive FAQ available there that will basically answer every question you might have about the terminator engine.

any other questions….the guys at svt will quickly help you out……

Q: Ford Mustang Cobra 2 Drag Race?
Hey me and my friend are looking to buy a Ford Mustang 1975 Cobra 2 in order to upgrade and use it as a muscle car in quarter mile.

Does anyone have one of these they are willing to sell in England and if not does anyone have any idea on how to increase it’s performance.

e.g. Parts, Websites selling Parts etc…

Ty

A: Im not in England.
But why a 75. I can see if your gonna do a whole engine swap and start from the ground up. if you plan on using the stock engine, i wouldn’t bother it was a bad decade for the mustang during that time as new emission laws were put into affect and power output has dropped because of.

Q: 1995 Ford Mustang COBRA-R, what would be a fair purchase/sell price?
This car is a TRUE cobra R. 1 owner. Only 250 made in 1995. The only down side to the car is that the owner was forced into having to use it as a daily driver for a bit so it has approx 40,000 miles. If you know about the car you know its not one you can find pricing at cars.com etc. The car is owned by a close friend of mine who is going to possibly have to sell it, so im trying to find info for him…

A: Reasonably? I wouldn’t offer more than around $5000 for it.

You may not consider it a fair sell price, but fair also takes into account the buyer’s idea of fair. And $5k sounds fair to me.

Even if you could price it out via cars.com, or KBB, etc….those are suggested prices…not the prices that people will actually pay.

Though, I suppose you’ll pick the answer that has the highest dollar value. So….I’ll offer you $45,000 for it. At that point, it’s no longer the least bit fair to me, but it’ll satisfy your wallet.

I like the guy you chose on the other one though. All hyped up about a car. So it’s a Cobra-R? Looks like a Mustang to me.

A $5,000 Mustang. :)

Q: I have a 2001 ford mustang cobra with a tremec tr 3650 ,and thinking to upgrade to a tko 600.?
Will the tremec tko 600 use the same clutch kit as the tr3650?

A: different friction disc with 26 teeth for the trans input shaft otherwise the same

Q: If i am ok at driving stick would i mess up a used car.?
ok i am ok at manual but the only thing is that i cant take off as well. my two friends got a manual beetle and they both burned out the clutch right away.

is it cuz its a beetle or what?

and my other friend has a cobalt lt or ls and its manual and they never drove stick before and now he is great at it and its running great and i no they probably done some damage to it.

also would i mess up a used 2003 – 2004 ford mustang cobra if the only thing is wrong with me is just taking off? and how long would it last before anything goes out like the clutch or transmission?

A: Here is a trick a co-worker told to do when someone is learning on a standard.

One just sit in the car and push in and let up the clutch pedal for say 3 minutes. Do this every day. Then I say a go to a parking lot at a mall or school and set the parking brake. Turn on the engine. Keep right foot on the brake and Just let the clutch up till it starts to grab and then push back in. This way you can get a feel for were the clutch grabs and you need to put on the gas slowly and away we go.

As for you friends burning out the clutches it’s Just bad Driving and riding the clutch which is a NO NO.

Q: What was the official year of the Ford 302 engine?
I would like to know if any of the Ford buffs know the correct year of the Ford 302 engine? Some backwoods, backyard, idiot on here insist it came out in 1967! I owned a 1969 Mustang fastback that had the Cobra 428 but to my knowledge the 289 was the only available engine in 1967! I know from my research that Ford prototyped a 302 in 1968 as a test for mass production to be used in the 1969 Mustangs. Does anyone have any information which they can give me a website or whatever to confirm otherwise? I would appreciate the input so as to put this issue to rest! I have gone to all the auto parts websites and there is NO 1967-68 listings for 302 parts!

A: 1968 – 302
1969 – Boss 302

Q: Should i get a 2005 saleen? or 2004 stv cobra?

sorry for those of you that don’t know mustangs. haha

A: both are great cars but i would go with the cobra. it has 390 horsepower stock and is also supercharged (the 03 and 04 were both supercharged) it also has less than 4000 miles, so id go with the cobra

Q: NEED HELP FAST 2004 FORD MUSTANG COBRA ENGINE BLOCK REPAIR?
sort of need a car fast and ive found a cobra for an affordable price with a engine problem

owner told me “A couple months ago it had water damage. everything electrical has been replaced and everything is fully functioning besides the engine. The engine block needs to be replaced a piston rod broke from the water damage.”

since hes so busy he doesnt have time to repair it or any money to even have it replaced ive talked to him on the phone just recently but since our working hours collide i can only email him

i know i need to replace the block but are the other piston rods still good for use im not well educated on engines but this will be a week project with my uncle in a couple of days.

i found a 04 cobra block for $500 is that a good price?

recieved the owners reply a few hours ago i just got off work and need tips i need to find out what i will need and steps for prep. till finish need to know before tomorrow night at the latest so i can make up my mind.

this will be a life saver THANKS!!!
Karle, thanks for your input how much will all of it cost? can you arrenge the steps in order? im getting the car for $5000 would it be better to buy a lincoln mark8 and use all the parts off that? in other words a full engine swap and transfer the supercharger?
seems like a shit load of work but possible my uncle has been a mechanic for 30+ years and is well known in San Francisco for his work and he will have the job done thanks for all the input guys i wish i could choose all as the right answer i will just leave it up for votes because it would be unfair to choose who is right because all seems correct THANKS!!

A: I don’t know your uncle’s capabilities, but a Cobra engine is not a project for a weekend mechanic. The 4.6 32 valve has 4 overhead cams and a supercharger that ordinary mustang engines do not have. He’s gonna need lots of specialized tools to put this baby together properly. I don’t mean to scare you but you need to know what you’re up against before you start. Most regular Ford dealerships are not able to work on them. You would need to find an SVT trained mechanic for this one. These engines were hand assembled in the SVT plant in Dearborn Michigan.

Q: Where can I find a ford 5.4 dohc 24 valve and how much will it cost?
I would rather it be used, I would like to snag one from a ‘99 Navigator or a 2000 svt cobra without buying those vehicles. I have checked local car yards and ford will only sell you new ones. is there a good website to get this thing from.

A: www.corral.net/forums

There is a Classifieds section there for modular parts & engines for sale or wanted. Create a user name and join the site.

Q: Will anything happen if i begin using different oil?
I just bought a 1998 Ford Mustang Cobra off this old man who always used Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil 5W30. The oil change is due on the car but Mobil 1 Synthetic is $7 a bottle and i need 6, Will anything happen to the engine if i begin to use regular 5W30 oil.

A: Shouldn’t make any difference as long as you use the proper weight and amount.

Q: 93 ford explorer engine swap?
i have a 93 ford explorer sport five speed 4.0L. would a mustang cobra motor mount out rite to the trans if i used a 93 cobra motor?

A: No, don’t do that. For that amount of torque you will need to replace the tranny too. I think they sell kits for swapping into the explorer, especially since some did come with v-8s. But I think the driveshaft is different length and the motor mounts, etc. will be different.

Q: I am going to build a 427 replica cobra. What engine and transmission is good to use?
ford 302 engine with a c-4 transmission?
where can i buy it? (website)
how much does it cost?
Any other suggestions?

A: WHICH 427 Cobra are you planning on building? Most manufacturers have recommendations as to what engine/tranny combos work best.
