Q: what should a buy a 2002 mustang cobra or a gt and buy a aftermarket supercharger?
Hi im looking to buy sometype of mustang which would you think would be better buys a mustang gt and gettin a supercharger for it or buy a stock cobra? i have found sallen superchargers for around 5k im not looking to invest more than 20g in a a car tho

A: I don’t think there is a 2002 Cobra. There is a 2001 which wasn’t supercharged and a 2003 which was.
If you want a supercharged Mustang get one that came built for it and get the 03. Or you can get the GT/01 Cobra and rebuild the engine to handle the supercharger which unless you can do the work yourself is going to cost a lot of money.

Im looking to buy a mustang cobra. I would like an 03-04 cobra (tell me if i can find one cheap). But i would settle with a 96+. If I got a 96-2002 cobra could i make it have good power even though it dosent come with a supercharger. Ohh and I dont want a ton of miles on it. Thanks =]
My idea of cheap would be $15,000 or less.
A: 03-04 cobra’s with relatively high mileage or uncertain heritage, are presently in the range of $17,000.
lower mileage (say 20,000 – 25,000 miles) are still in the range of $23,000.

so i guess you should focus on getting earlier model cobra or bullitt, they make about 320hp, generally track times & 0-60 times are much better than the GT’s….like here

your best bet may be to keep your eyes open for a nicely modified GT, have it fully ck’d by a pro shop before you buy (including compression test)

A: You can’t because you are referring to 2 different cars. The GT-350 was a Shelby Mustang, the two seat roadster was a Cobra.
Either way, the price is going to be a huge pile of money.

Q: Which would be a better buy, a 2001 Ford Mustang Svt cobra or a 2003 Ford Mustang Mach 1?
I am considering purchasing either one. Both are completely stock and have less than 30,000 miles on them. Any suggestions based on facts, opinions, benefits of either one, or any known problems with either one is appriecated.
A: both great cars, and below are websites for specs.
now the 01 cobra has a little more horsepower than the mach 1, but i would recommend the mach 1….mostly because its newer and the 03 mach 1 had perhaps a better set-up chassis wise than 01 cobra. down the road the mach 1 will likely have more value (the 01 cobra was not best of the cobra breed and really cobra name did not resurface until 2003/2004 cobra series)… and lastly the shaker hood set-up of the mach 1 series is really nice.
both run same basic engine ford modular 4.6 modified from the gt in different ways. these are solid, dependable engines. whether you get the performance bug and enhance them or keep them as is, they are one of the best blocks around.
whichever car you choose, great drive….but again i recommend mach 1….here’s a review

Q: If i was going to buy a customized 93 cobra mustang, would it be OK for a daily driver?
It has a supercharger, the engine was bored out, has a full racing susspension, and a few other engine mods

but as long as the cooling system can keep up with the sitting in traffic at idle, and you have knowledge about a tuned car with a lot of engine performance, then go for it.
The gas war is not going to go bad because of your new ride.

Q: Is it not smart to buy a 2001 Mustang Cobra that has had Tranny rebuilt at 75k due to 5th gear bearing out?
Hey, I am looking at buying a 2001 Mustang Cobra. I found one at a decent price. It has 75,000 miles. I was talking to the owner, says that the car has never been raced. But then told me that the transmission has been rebuilt due to the 5th gear bearing going out. Seems like that might be a little premature to have go out unless it has been dogged and driven hard. I honestly can not afford to buy anyone Else’s problems. Please let me know what you guys think.
A: Well, most likely if they rebuilt the tranny, it should run fine. If you can find one at a good price, it shouldn’t cost too much to replace the tranny, anyway. If in doubt, if you trust this guy, ask him if you could take it for a short test drive with him, that way you’re confident in your buy. Best of luck

A: The Vin will be 1FACP42D(any number or X)PF(Then the production number starting with 100,001 which includes all mustangs). For example my Red 93’s Vin is 1FACP42D6PF140091. The only definitive letter in the Vin is the D in the eighth spot. If it has a E there it is not a Cobra.

A: Here are the manufacturer 2010 Auto Reliability Grade Point Averages (based on Consumer Reports reliability tables) and corresponding letter grades:
Nissan: 2.39 (on the usual 0.00 to 4.00 scale), a C average
Ford: 2.15, another C average
General Motors: 1.41, a D average
So, if forced to buy one of the above, I too would go with the Nissan.
However, for comparison, here are a couple additional manufacturer 2010 Reliability GPAs:
Honda: 3.55
Toyota: 3.48.
