Like many of us, Dan Frechtling noticed that he is being tracked online. Advertisements related to websites we have visited or topics we have researched follow us around the Internet, even on unrelated sites.

But in her case, the subject of her research was deeply personal. It was the cancer treatment his wife, Annie, was facing. Some of the resulting advertisements still persist, more than two years after his death in 2020 at age 47.

“There’s a social media platform I can go to today, and I’ll still see the cancer ads, they have such a profile on me,” Frechtling said.

This experience is part of what gives him a deep interest in his work as CEO of Boltive. The Seattle startup, formerly known as Ad Lightning, recently raised additional funds to expand into a promising new area: automated technology to help brands and publishers ensure websites and advertising platforms respect privacy laws and adhere to the choices of Internet users.

“It’s my own story and why, for me, it’s more than just a job,” Frechtling said.

But that’s only part of the extraordinary personal story behind Boltive’s new phase.

A unique degree of empathy

Longtime technology and business leader in Seattle Scott Moorethe former Microsoft, Yahoo and Cheezburger executive who co-founded Ad Lightning in 2016, made an unusual move in May 2021, moving to a new role as Boltive’s chief financial officer and handing over the reins as CEO to Frechtling.

The reason: Moore’s wife, Valerie, was undergoing her own treatment for terminal cancer at the time. Moore wanted to be able to focus on his wife and their family in what would turn out to be the last year of his life.

“It’s just good to know you’re working with someone who understands.”

Scott Moore

Coincidentally, she had the same type of cancer as Frechtling’s wife: a form of non-small cell lung cancer not associated with smoking.

Frechtling previously worked for Moore at Seattle-based marketing firm Hibu, and they had stayed in touch.

They also happen to be neighbors. Their wives connected and supported each other during their respective cancer treatments.

When Moore decided it was time to take a step back, Frechtling was ready to step down from his previous role and become a startup’s first CEO.

Frechtling also had experience in the field. He was previously president of G2 Web Services, and after its acquisition by Verisk in 2017, he expanded his cybersecurity solutions to include the ability to detect bad actors in e-commerce.

After much discussion, they came to the conclusion that appointing Frechtling and moving Moore to the position of CFO was the right move for both of them and for the company.

The result has been a unique degree of empathy and understanding between them, in their professional and personal lives.

As co-founder and former CEO of the company, Moore was able to mentor Frechtling as he takes on this role for the first time.

Frechtling, at the same time, was able to help Moore through the immense personal challenge of losing his wife in February of this year.

“When a person goes through what Dan and I went through, as primary caregivers of a terminally ill person, it’s a truly unique experience that’s almost impossible, in my experience, to pass on to someone. one who has not experienced it.” said Moore. “A lot of times it can be a little awkward because people feel really bad.”

Frechtling was “incredibly empathetic to me in the first weeks and months after Val died,” Moore said. “It’s just good to know you’re working with someone who understands when you’re talking about something like that.”

Moore didn’t experience the same kind of targeting as Frechtling for cancer treatment ads, but recalls his wife being targeted, further illustrating the problem the company is now tackling.

From Ad Lightning to Boltive

The company was founded in 2016 as Ad Lightning. It was one of the first startups incubated and spun off from Seattle’s Pioneer Square Labs. Sinclair Digital Ventures, a division of Sinclair Broadcast Group, led the initial funding for the venture. Other investors include Flying Fish Partners of Seattle.

Ad Lightning started by detecting and flagging disruptive ads, such as videos in display ad slots. It then expanded to fight malvertising, a capability that has attracted clients such as NBC Universal, Buzzfeed, Univision and TripleLift.

Later, the company added the ability to detect ads that specific publishers might consider objectionable, such as swimsuit ads on faith-based websites.

Now, as Bolitive, the company continues to offer these Ad Lighting products, but it is also expanding to solve the problem of surveillance ads, which put publishers at risk of violating digital privacy laws by collecting and by sharing personal information without the user’s consent.

The company compares its new solution, Privacy Guard, to a virtual “secret client”.

Working with brands and publishers, he creates synthetic characters that appear on websites as genuine users. The technology tests consent management platforms to see if they are properly configured and implemented to block the collection of personal data. It also looks to see if targeted ads are served to the synthetic persona elsewhere online.

Beyond online publishers, there is also a risk for brands, as evidenced by a recent $1.2 million settlement between beauty brand Sephora and California Attorney General Rob Bonta. Boltive estimates that brand risk increases the company’s total addressable market from $500 million to $5 billion in total.

“Brands are most at risk, more so than publishers, when consumer data is siphoned off and shared without consent,” Frechtling said.

He said the new technology stems from three trends:

  • Customers: One of the attributes in the company’s dashboard for its core ad quality software is the number of third-party ad-connected trackers that sync user data. “This attribute has caught the attention of customers concerned about the flow of consumer data,” Frechtling said.
  • Regulation: There has been a huge regulatory push to strengthen consumer privacy online, starting in Europe and California and expanding to other states and countries. Gartner estimates that 75% of the world’s population will be covered by modern privacy regulations by the end of 2024.
  • Technology: Apple’s addition of app tracking transparency to iOS and Google’s move away from third-party cookies are both transforming the digital advertising market in a bid to address privacy concerns.

“So we have a confluence of three factors all pointing in the same direction – online brands are grappling with data privacy like never before and current technologies aren’t creating a path forward,” Frechtling said.

“A Smoke Test for Internet Pipes”

Bolive sees two main culprits in the continued misuse of consumers’ personal data.

  • Lost or “dark” signals: Brands and vendors use consent management platforms, which have disclaimers allowing site visitors to opt in or out of the use of cookies for followed. In Boltive’s trials, these systems create errors 37% of the time because the choice consumers make is lost or corrupted somewhere in the chain.
  • Data skimmers: Entities that appear to be legitimate participants in the ad auction process are actually positioning themselves to capture the data they use to create profiles and records of site visitors, which can be extremely lucrative when they are assembled en masse.

Boltive detects both. If his system reveals signs of trouble, then he provides a detailed investigation report, documenting the failure, which his customers must forward to their suppliers for investigation and resolution.

“It’s like a smoke test for internet pipes,” Frechtling said. “Where’s that crack in the pipes where the smoke is coming out of?”

But since the tests don’t use real consumer data, no one is harmed.

Boltive has signed up to several paying corporate clients for Privacy Guard. He also deploys his service to the consultants of one of the 5 largest firms in the world, to serve the firm’s clients.

The company uses a tiered software-as-a-service pricing model based on the number of ad campaigns monitored or domains protected.

Boltive has 25 employees. It recently raised a new round of funding, with $4 million so far River Capital SaaS and an additional $3 million expected from other investors, bringing the total funds raised by the company to date to $14 million. Wendy Jarchow of River SaaS Capital joins Boltive’s Board of Directors.

With privacy regulations still evolving, including new California regulations due to take effect next year, the main competition Boltive’s new technology faces is manual efforts to detect data leaks. .

“These are not scalable and are ripe for automation,” Frechtling said. “That’s why we’re fundraising now, to stay ahead of the competitors that will inevitably appear in 2023.”

Ultimately, the goal is to ensure that consumer data is not used against their will. As someone who’s felt the personal impact more than most, Frechtling says he’s confident this privacy issue can be solved by identifying how websites disclose data.

Canal+ signs with Sony and Universal for new releases. The leading French pay-TV group confirms that it wants to increase its American film programming. These actions place Canal+ far ahead of its closest competitors, giving all its subscribers an additional plus. So, in less time, they will be able to watch the movies they enjoy the most.

The competition between streaming platforms is extreme. So, every day, more and more are fighting to have the premieres as soon as possible. From now on, Canal+ is ahead of Netflix thanks to this agreement to be present in the most essential versions. With this agreement, Canal + will benefit from new films six months after the previews, indicated the spokesperson for Variety. Thus, Canal+ subscribers can watch Sony broadcasts Spider-Man: No Coming Home and access the My Canal transactional VOD platform.

Canal+ signs with Sony and Universal

The CEO and president of Canal+, Maxime Saada, announced it at the headquarters of Elegant Paris on September 14. He said the team already has partnerships with Warner, Disney, Fox and Paramount. The channel also has a six-month window on French films. Previously, this was not the case; the wait was up to 9 months after the film’s theatrical release.

After the signing of this agreement, Sadda declared that Canal+ could now “show the best of French cinema”. He also pointed out that “the signing of a historic agreement with French cinema corporations to invest nearly 200 million dollars a year in French and European films” gave Canal+ an advantage over other channels.

All this allows Canal + to have a head start on Netflix since its window is 15 months after the news in France. Of course, all of that has to change. Netflix, Disney and other platforms are pushing for renegotiation and therefore much earlier access to movies. This advantage taken by Canal+ has its setbacks. We see it with the protest from Disney+, where he backed out of the French theatrical release of his animated film “Strange World” in protest against the country’s strict exposure guidelines.

During the press conference, Saada clarified that “we are pretty much the only group to defend theatrical releases (…) and what we want is fairness”. He expressed in his statement: “The contribution of the platforms is around 40 million euros (39.9 million dollars) per year and that of Canal+ is around 200 million euros per year, so we think that each should have the place that reflects their contribution”. Thus, if the other platforms want shorter windows, “Canal Plus+ also goes up, if not more”.

Looking for more offers in the coming months

Canal+’s range of action is expanding. The network is looking for other deals to sign with three other platforms. The executive mentioned AppleTV+, Amazon Prime Video and the HBO Max/Discovery+ streaming platform, which will be launched in France in 2024. This makes Canal+ a major platform aggregator, where all these agreements already signed demonstrate the strategic alliance that they hold to show America. movies in a much shorter time than other channels.

Faced with such competition, if they want to remain on the market, Canal+ must continue to support such strategies. This way, it will maintain a satisfied audience and be able to attract and retain new subscribers.

According to its director Saada, this is all new. For the first time, Canal+ and Studiocanal have brought together content production and distribution teams, enabling them to combine Canal+ and Studiocanal.

With this directive and new agreements, Canal+ could maintain its leadership in preview. Indeed, during the conference, they proudly showed several clips of their upcoming original programs. This is the case, for example, of “Désordres”, a television series with Florence Foresti, an actress well known in France for her Stand-Ups.

Canal+, the leading French pay-TV group, has signed distribution agreements with Universal and Sony to accelerate its programming of American films.

As part of the pact, Canal+ now has access to new films from studios six months after release, a spokesperson said. Variety. Sony’s “Spiderman: No Way Home” is currently broadcast on Canal+’s linear pay channels, as well as on its transactional VOD platform, My Canal.

The news was teased by Maxime Saada, President and CEO of Canal+ Group, during the company’s upbeat press conference on September 14, held at their swanky Paris headquarters. Saada, who recently joined the board of Vivendi, the parent company of Canal Plus Group, said the company already has partnerships with Fox, Disney and Warner, as well as Paramount.

Canal+ also has a six-month window on French films. The company previously had to wait 9 months after movies hit theaters and was able to cut that by three months under new windowing rules last December.

Sadda pointed out that Canal+ had been authorized to show the “best of French cinema” just six months after its theatrical release after having “signed a historic agreement with French cinema corporations to invest nearly 200 million dollars a year in French and European films”. He cited as an example Cedric Jimenez’s hit crime thriller “The Stronghold” which began airing on Canal+ in February.

Canal+ is positioned far ahead of Netflix, which has a 15-month window on new releases in France. Windowing rules will soon be renegotiated and Netflix, like Disney and other platforms, is pushing for faster access to movies. Disney went so far as to forgo the French theatrical release of its animated film “Strange World” in protest at France’s strict windowing guidelines.

During the press conference, Saada said “we are pretty much the only group defending theatrical releases (…) and what we want is fairness”. “The contribution of the platforms is around 40 million euros ($39.9 million) per year and that of Canal+ is around 200 million euros per year, so we believe that each must have the place that reflects his contribution,” he continued. Saada said that if platforms wish to have shorter windows, “Canal Plus+ also goes up, if not more.”

As it clashes with streamers on windowing in France, Canal+ has become a major platform aggregator thanks to deals signed with Netflix, Disney+ and Starzplay. Paramount+ will be the fourth American platform to be launched on Canal+ by the end of the year.

Saada said Canal+ was looking to sign with three other platforms. The executive was referring to AppleTV+, Amazon Prime Video and the HBO Max/Discovery+ streaming platform which is expected to launch in France in 2024.

The packed press conference was held at the company’s new headquarters called Canal+ One, which Saada says brings together teams that produce and distribute content for the first time, bringing together Canal+ and Studiocanal.

During the press, the banner showed excerpts from its upcoming original Canal+ shows, for example “Désordres”, the first television series by Florence Foresti, one of France’s best-known stand-up comedians. Foresti, who was at the event to pitch her anticipated show to reporters, plays a semi-autobiographical version of herself on the show. In the clip released during the presser, Foresti pays homage to “Sex and the City” with a hilarious French parody. On stage, she said she wanted to make people laugh and also explore a wide range of topics, from loneliness and anxiety, to bi-weekly parenting and struggling to find love. Canal Plus’ Original Creation unit, now led by Olivier Bibas (Head of Fiction), also presented a teaser of “Marie-Antoinette”, a lens-rich period drama created and co-written by Deborah Davis ( “La Favorite”), with Emilia Schüle who was also on the pitch during the Canal+ event.

Looking for a movie to scare your pants off? Then watch Barbarian, the new slasher movie from Zach Cregger. With a September 9 premiere, will fans have to head to the theater to watch or can they stream it online?

Barbarian stars Georgina Campbell as Tess Marshall, a woman who books an Airbnb in Detroit while in town for a job interview. When Tess arrives at the accommodation property, she is greeted by Keith, played by Bill Skarsgård, and discovers that the Airbnb has been double-booked. Despite her uncertainty, Tess stays the night and soon learns there is something else in the house, not just another guest.

Cregger, known for his involvement with comedy troupe The Whitest Kids U’ Know, writes and directs the film. Justin Long, Matthew Patrick Davis, Richard Brake, Kurt Braunohler and Kate Bosworth also star. Barbarian is currently Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with a tomatometer score of 95%. The film will be released in theaters on September 9, but will it also be streamed?

Here’s what to know about where to watch Barbarian and when you can expect Barbarian to be available on

When will Barbarian be released?

Barbarian will be released in the United States on September 9, 2022. It was originally scheduled to be released on August 31 of the same year but was pushed back to its current release date. The film premiered at San Diego Comic-Con 2022 on July 22 and received positive reactions from attendees. It was then screened at Arrow Video FrightFest on August 29.

Is ‘Barbarian’ available to stream?

Barbarian is getting a theatrical release on September 9, 2022, with no release plans yet. Because it’s a film from 20th century studios, it could end up on Hulu first, provided it’s available to stream in 2022. According to a November 2021 article in Variety, “HBO Max will get his hands on Fox’s movie slate for one final year – in an unusual deal to share streaming windows with Disney Plus and Hulu for half of the studio’s titles.

We can’t see a horrible horror movie landing on Disney Plus (although we’re holding it back), so Hulu seems like the better bet. This agreement also states that “HBO/HBO Max will share co-exclusive rights with Disney Plus and Hulu to select titles from 20th Century Studios and Searchlight Pictures. HBO/HBO Max will retain pay-TV window exclusivity on about half of the slate through 2022.

Where to watch Barbarian for free

As mentioned above, dark fantasy is only released in theaters. So, people who want to watch the movie for free will have to wait for its release on a free trial platform. Barbarian is available to stream with a Sony Pictures subscription or on Paramount Plus.

Is Barbarian on Amazon Video?

Yes, it’s free if you’re already an Amazon Prime member. Prime Video is included with an Amazon Prime subscription for $15 per month or $139 per year. You can try it risk-free for 30 days and watch all the videos you want on Prime Video. This is much longer than the average free trial period offered by similar services.

Whether you want to watch or download Barbarian online without having to register or provide your credit card information, Amazon has you covered. Select the one that suits you from the options below.

Is Barbarian on Netflix?

Barbarian won’t be on Netflix anytime soon. However, the film could eventually go to Netflix, but not for another 4 years. A deal between Universal and Netflix gives the streaming service access to live-action movies from Universal Filmed Entertainment Group, which includes Focus Features, about four years after they opened in theaters. In Barbarian’s case, that means July 2026. That’s a long wait, so if you want to see the movie ASAP, your best bet is to hit the movies or wait for it to come to Peacock.

Is Barbarian streaming on HBO Max?

HBO Max is a relatively new streaming service that offers Barbarian for viewing. You can watch Barbarian on HBO Max if you’re already a member. If you’re not already a member, you can sign up for a one-month free trial and then cancel before the end of the month if you don’t want to keep the subscription.

Is Barbarian on Hulu?

They’re not on Hulu either! But prices for this streaming service currently start at $6.99 per month or $69.99 for the whole year. The ad-free version costs $12.99 per month, $64.99 per month for Hulu + Live TV or $70.99 for Hulu + Live TV without ads.

Is Barbarian streaming on Disney+?

Barbarian is a movie that can be streamed on Disney Plus. You can watch on Disney Plus if you’re already a member. If you don’t want to subscribe after trying the service for a month, you can cancel before the end of the month. On other streaming services, Barbarian can be rented or purchased.

What is ‘Barbarian’ about?

In 2022’s Barbarian, writer Zach Cregg (The Whitest Kids U’Know) begins the film with a simple mistake. Two people accidentally booked the same Airbnb outside of Detroit. It is important to know that the neighborhood where it is located is described as less than ideal. Tess (Georgina Campbell, Apple TV’s Suspicion) arrives at night—when it’s raining outside, of course. After discovering that her Airbnb key is not in the safe, she rings the doorbell.

Once they realize what happened, Keith immediately goes into nice boy mode, offering Tess the room while assuring her that there are locks on every door. Remember the bad neighborhood? Well, that convinces Tess to stay. She reluctantly crashes into bed, only to be awakened by footsteps in the hallway as her door slowly opens. From there, things get weirder and weirder, oscillating between a Saw-esque movie that feels like a test and a walk through Tess’ trauma that will be opened wide later.

The film cuts to AJ (Justin Long, F Is For Family), the owner of the mysterious Airbnb. He’s a smarmy actor who just found out he’s been charged with sexual assault. Like Armie Hammer, we watch him retire from various projects as well as his agent. In this film, an abusive, titled white man is also the monster. It is both vindicating and depressing. Soon these stories converge and a third act revealed will leave you breathless. Trigger a warning for everyone.

Email is one of those tools that people say will one day die and be replaced by a better communication platform. And yet, because it’s nearly universal and works so well across platforms, it’s still around.

But working across platforms isn’t the same as working well for everyone all the time. I’ve seen a lot of concern about the increasing number of email attacks and lots of complaints from people with email issues in general – many blaming Outlook or another client for recent issues.

In fact, the underlying cause could be simpler: ISPs have adopted more modern authentication processes (to ward off attacks) and some email clients cannot handle the changes. Example: Microsoft, which is slowly but surely disabling basic authentication and upgrade to higher levels of protection. (If your email platform is still using basic authentication, attackers are almost certainly trying to crack your passwords with password spray and harvested credentials.)

Here’s what to do to troubleshoot basic email issues while ensuring you’re protected from hackers.

Troubleshoot Messaging 101

Generally speaking, if you’re having trouble accessing email using the same app you always have (and the same password), the first thing to do is double-check your password. An easy way to do this is to log into the web version of your messaging platform. If you can get in, you have the correct credentials. I’ve seen cases where an ISP changed their password complexity requirements and it wasn’t until I went online that I discovered that fact. (Now would also be a good time to consider adding two-factor authentication to your personal email account, especially those used to authenticate financial institutions.)

You may also find that you are actually using older versions of Outlook that do not support Modern Authentication. While Microsoft 365 may have removal of version support prior to 2013 Service Pack 1, other mail servers might have continued to support these older platforms. Your ISP may have changed email requirements and you missed the memo.

If you are still using Outlook, always check if delete your email account and configuring it again is enough for your client to initiate stronger authentication processes. If your account is already in iMAP format, you won’t lose any emails. If that doesn’t work, consider upgrading to a newer version of Outlook, a different email client, or an entirely different Office platform.

If you choose the latter option, beware of cheap versions of Office that don’t match what you see on Microsoft’s website; chances are it’s a scam. Even on reputable sites, I’ve seen Office offered for as little as $39.99. The buyer ends up with a product key not working and an offer to buy Microsoft 365. And you might not need the Office suite at all. Unless you’re deep into Word and Excel documents with macros, the alternative suites should work fine. free office can solve your document and spreadsheet needs, and there are plenty of third-party options for email. (While Outlook remains a key player in the business world, it is losing its grip on the consumer space.

Beyond Outlook, you have options

If you like Firefox, you can try thunderbird. It also has an email setup wizard that allows you to easily create your email account. Another option is EM, similar to Outlook. Both work on Windows and Mac, so if you’re switching from one to the other, any email migration should be fairly straightforward. Even better, you can usually test these types of alternative platforms for free before buying them.

If your email is still in a downloaded pst file, you can usually find tools to migrate from one platform to another. I used System Tools to easily migrate from Zoho to Microsoft 365 and Recovery tools export a Outlookpst Thunderbird format file, I recommend looking for a paid tool to make sure you can get help with any issues you are having.

The bottom line here is that when it comes to email, don’t be tied to an outdated version of Outlook. If you haven’t received updates for years, you are putting yourself at risk of attacks and threats. Especially for small businesses, business email compromise is a major risk exacerbated by older platforms.

If you are having email issues, make sure your credentials are up to date, check for ISP changes, and make sure Outlook (if this is your preferred client) has been updated . And if you don’t like Outlook, switch to an alternative that works for you.

This is the best way to prevent bad guys from entering your systems.

The exterior of the house.

In the 33 years since she lost the use of her legs, Deborah Mellen has come to understand the importance of design for people with disabilities. Since being in a wheelchair, she feels purposely marginalized – kept away from most of Woodstock’s shops and restaurants and her friends’ homes which have stairs.

Mellen, who worked in the family’s jewelry and gemstone business in New York City, moved to the Woodstock area in 2017. Her dream was to remodel a barn. She liked the big windows.

What she found was a ramshackle, asbestos-filled house in the hills above Woodstock with a great view of the Ashokan Reservoir. She tore it down and built her dream house.

Mellen wasn’t looking for a home like some of the accessible facilities she’s seen, with obvious bars and ramps and a built-in one-person elevator. “They throw ugly you all the time,” she said. Mellen is an art collector. Ugly wouldn’t do. She found a talented local architect, Barry Price, and they got to work.

Anticipate changes

Deborah Mellen

They agreed to use universal design https://www.wbdg.org/design-objectives/accessible/beyond-accessibility-universal-designto create an enabling environment for “people with different abilities”. In other words, all of us. Price says universal design anticipates life cycle changes. His aging clients are asking for single-storey houses because they are losing some of their mobility. “Every home must adapt to change.” As kids move out and their parents get older, things like hard-to-reach stairs and tubs can become obstacles.

Mellen needed a home where her friends in wheelchairs would be as comfortable as those without disabilities. All sills are flat. To get to the second floor, Price suggested a large open elevator that could easily accommodate two people talking. She has a chair to lower herself into her bathtub.

Other details to accommodate her disability are more subtle: a space under the sink for her to slip into a shower with a limestone seat. She has a raised yoga platform that she can slide down from her chair. Mellen’s kitchen is easy to navigate since all the drawers and cupboards are within easy reach for her…or anyone else. The amenities are subtle.

The elevator

Another unseen feature of the Mellen house is that it uses about 90% less energy than traditional houses. Its “passive house” is a super-insulated, airtight structure that requires little heating and cooling. It recovers heat and humidity and saves homeowners most of their energy costs. Aware that buildings and their construction represent more than a third of the world’s energy consumption, Price is committed to minimizing environmental impact. It’s a moral imperative, he says, “…more and more urgent the more I do what I do.”

An outdoor carport makes the transition to the front door easier and more attractive than going through a garage. There’s a tree-lined path where Mellen can exercise his dashing Portuguese water dog, Benno, and a gently sloping oil and chip path down to Mellen’s pool.

It seems there’s nothing Mellen can’t do in and around his house. Now 68, she has come a long way from the serious injuries she suffered in 1989 in Italy when a lorry driver fell asleep and rammed into the car her husband was driving. The driver was not seriously injured, but Mellen was. Many of her bones were broken and she was in a coma for three weeks. Years of surgery and rehabilitation followed, but her spine was broken and she never regained the use of her legs. (Two years later, her husband died of unrelated causes.)

Mellen was sent to the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis. She had always loved the ocean but was convinced that she would no longer be able to enjoy it. There, she discovered Shake-a-Leg Miami, a sports center for the disabled that takes people in wheelchairs out on the water. “Water heals, water liberates,” says Mellen.

The beauty of giving

She would find her life’s purpose in sharing her love of the ocean with disabled men, women and children. About ten years ago, Mellen heard about the only sailboat in the world made to universal design standards. Called the impossible dreamit is a 60-foot catamaran that can accommodate twelve people in wheelchairs, with twelve companions and a small crew including the disabled. It has been designed so that people in wheelchairs can board and move around easily. Two elevators take them down to the toilets and dormitories. Mellen bought the ship.

Mellen founded The Impossible Dream, a non-profit organization for the “thousands of people marginalized by their non-accessible environment”. For five months each year, the catamaran sails from Miami to Maine and back, stopping along the way to offer people with disabilities in hospitals, rehab or community groups the opportunity to sail the only sailboat designed for them. Mellen says she learned “the beauty of giving.”

the impossible dream will dock at the Hudson River Maritime Museum in Kingston from September 9-18.

Mellen and Price believe that anyone lucky enough to live to retirement age would benefit from inclusive universal design and passive house construction. Designing for All opens up possibilities for everyone, those who are currently disabled and those who may one day be.

Is it possible to use a VPN on my Smart TV? https://cwinapp.com/is-it-possible-to-use-a-vpn-on-my-smart-tv/ Fri, 09 Sep 2022 18:24:47 +0000 https://cwinapp.com/is-it-possible-to-use-a-vpn-on-my-smart-tv/ If you’re like me, you’ll agree that watching a movie or series on the big screen is the best way to enjoy it. If you’re like me, you’ll agree that watching a movie or series on the big screen is the best way to enjoy it. Although going to the cinema is a different experience, having theater moments at home is incomparable.

There’s no denying that movie theaters have first access to the latest and most sought-after content. But in light of the “new normal”, online access to streaming platforms has become the most convenient and convenient option.

To access all types of entertainment content and connect them to your smart tv, test on ExpressVPN for Apple TV by VPNRanks reveal which VPN works best with smart TV systems.

First, let’s take a look at VPNs. These digital tools have many uses. They protect your data and keep it private.

They improve connection speed and remove barriers. And one of their brilliant benefits is that they allow you to easily access geo-restricted content. It is therefore obvious that VPNs attract many users online.

Specifically, for movie addicts, VPNs help bypass geo-restrictions and are compatible with almost any type of operating system or device. They connect with iOS, androidWindows, Edge, Linux, Smart TV systems, game consoles and routers.

For movie addicts, watching movies on laptops and phones may not provide the best streaming experience. It’s even distracting when you’re watching a movie on Netflix using your phone, and it suddenly vibrates from an incoming phone call.

That’s why the best way to enjoy your favorite international content is to use a VPN that works on your smart TV.

Can I use a VPN on my Smart TV?

Yes, you can use a VPN on your smart TV – although it’s not what you think!

The problem is that even today, most smart TVs do not support installing a VPN directly on their system. Instead, you’ll need to find a way to install the VPN on your router and connect it to your smart TV to make it work.

As mentioned, it is possible, but it will take a bit of tinkering. You have to do it manually.

Although it is possible to download an APK of a VPN and install it on your smart TV (Android) if you have one, this process is not recommended as it can damage your smart TV and even cancel the guaranteed if you are not careful.

Why is a VPN essential for Smart TVs?

Smart TVs are internet-connected home devices. Even though there are many brands, operating systems and models of smart TVs, almost all smart TVs include apps that allow you to watch movies and shows from streaming services such as BBC iPlayer, Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Prime Video and Disney. easily accessible with a VPN.

Additionally, VPNs are important for consistent streaming even when traveling. So whether you are staying in a hotel for lodging or living with your loved ones, you can access geo-restricted streaming sites and use their smart TVs for your streaming needs.

How to connect your Smart TV with a VPN?

Because smart TVs and VPNs are all unique, there is no universal protocol to connect them. Many major electronics companies, such as Samsung and LG, have entered the smart TV market and are constantly improving their brands.

New models of TVs from some brands allow the installation of a VPN directly on them. Many smart TV models run on Android, therefore the TV will eventually work with a VPN app/software. Samsung Smart TVs, on the other hand, are incompatible with VPN apps and must be configured in a different way, for example, through the router configuration.

When setting up VPN on a router, your smart TV will be protected by VPN security features. If your router firmware supports VPN setup, you can use the setup guides provided by your VPN provider. If not, you should consider replacing the firmware of the router with VPN-supported firmware, such as Tomato or DD-WRT.

Keep in mind that knowing which firmware is better and completely replacing it can cause problems on your router if handled incorrectly. Therefore, leave the task to a tech expert.

Another option is to buy a pre-configured router, like the ones mentioned earlier. ExpressVPN’s router is suggested because it has custom firmware and is easy to use. NordVPN also has great third-party affiliate options.

Best VPN for Smart TV Criteria

At VPNranks, we adhere to a strict criteria-based system to provide the most accurate ratings possible. VPN apps, servers, speed, unlocking capabilities, and security were the most important factors we considered. Learn more about them here:

  • Smart TV Apps. The best VPN for smart TVs must have app versions for smart TV systems. And they should be downloadable in the most transparent way. They must have apps for Android TV, Apple TV, Fire TV, and routers for manual setup.
  • Server availability. A physical server in the country you are trying to access the restricted content is required to stream your favorites to your smart TV. While virtual VPN servers might be adequate for our ranking in other categories, they’re not the norm for smart TVs.
  • Reliability and speed. It is not enough for the VPN to unlock restricted content. The fastest speed when watching content is what sets the best VPN for smart TVs apart from the rest. The bare minimum is no latency and no disconnection issues. The VPN we recommended provided consistent speed with the best audio and visual quality in our tests.
  • Unlock Abilities. International platforms have strict restrictions that VPNs must bypass. The VPN should do this in the most perfect way possible, without leaving traces online. Using the VPN’s best MediaStreamer and TrustedServer technologies, you can unlock a streaming platform and view it on your smart TV. What a delight!
  • Security. The most important consideration is safety. Whatever the circumstances, your smart TV VPN should secure your streaming. Since accessing blocked content can reveal your identity online, you should use a tool that masks your activity.

Which VPN is best for your Smart TV?

Based on ExpressVPN on VPNranks smart TVs, tests show that ExpressVPN really works wonders on the device. This VPN exceeded our criteria and was able to connect to smart TVs both directly and manually.

Wrap

Once you have everything set up and a VPN installed on your router, all you have to do is turn on your Smart TV and start surfing for your favorite content. It’s so easy.

So what are you waiting for? Sign up now for a reliable VPN service, access your favorite movies and protect your Smart TV while streaming.
