Legend of Zelda Fan Recreates Iconic Location in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Avid Legend of Zelda fan recreates the Temple of Time from Ocarina of Time entirely using elements from Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Reddit user Naydinfar Crossing shared their recreation of the Temple of Time on social media, instantly catching fans’ attention. The current design is remarkably faithful; the shape of the gigantic cathedral with all its elaborate windows is unmistakable to players who have explored the magical kingdom of Hyrule. Smaller details like the placement of the flowers along the rim and the gossip stones on the right tie the whole design together. It is unknown whether the interior was similarly decorated to resemble the sacred place.

Although the design itself is impressive, animal crossing players were quick to notice that the top of the Temple of Time seemed a little too pointed than the game usually allowed. Naydinfar-Crossing confirmed that they used the “Kid’s Tent” item to reach the top, which was only possible through modding New Horizons. The creative player also confirmed that some of the windows were their own design, and the actual construction planning took around 6-7 hours.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is widely regarded as one of the best games ever made. Originally released for the Nintendo 64 in 1998, Link’s first 3D adventure set the standard for action-adventure titles, defining the entire genre. The game has been widely praised for its cutting-edge graphics and elaborate puzzle dungeons. Ocarina of time has been ported to several modern Nintendo consoles, even going so far as to receive a remaster exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS.

Released in 2020, Animal Crossing: New Horizons quickly became one of Nintendo’s most popular and profitable games. The relaxing life simulator takes players to a tropical island with the task of making it their own. A host of cosmetic options are used to customize the world, with players building elaborate landscapes. The game debuted to universal praise from fans and critics, who found it an excellent distraction from what were then the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.


Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. While Ocarina of time can be played on multiple platforms, it’s arguably easiest to play through the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription service.
