Malone named to 2022 C-USA Academic Team

SAN ANTONIO- Luke Malone was named to the 2022 Conference USA All-Academic Team, as announced Monday by the conference office.

Malone, a redshirt junior and native of Round Rock, Texas, was one of 11 C-USA players honored with the recognition. Along with being UTSA’s ace on the mound, Malone carries a 4.0 GPA as he works on his Masters in Health Sciences and Kinesiology. Academics are a constant for Malone, as recognition from the All-Academic Team adds to his already impressive academic accomplishments as he earned the United States Conference Commissioner’s Academic Medal and National Board recognitions. honor of the United States Conference during the three seasons he was with the Roadrunners.

Malone had his best collegiate season, as he helped UTSA be in a position to potentially win their first general offer in school history. Malone has a 2.82 ERA in 76.2 innings pitched. He allowed just 24 earned runs on the year and was the Roadrunners’ best arm all year. He compiled an 8-3 record to go along with two saves in 11 starts in 17 appearances.
